INNlocal promotes a working session at the Rovira i Virgili University in Tortosa

INNlocal arrived in Spain!

The INNlocal – Innovation in and through Local Governments – project held a working session at the Rovira i Virgili University, in Spain, dedicated to experimenting with new approaches to innovation in local public administration.

The session brought together officials from local authorities for an activity that combined an institutional presentation and participatory dynamics, with the aim of testing and gathering input on the ‘Innovation Journey’ card game, one of the tools developed under the project. The initiative began with an introduction to INNlocal, centred on its lines of action – environmental sustainability, diversity and inclusion, and citizen participation – and the role of local authorities as agents of transformation. The highlight was the dynamic game, which asked participants to solve challenges inspired by authentic local government contexts. Through simulated scenarios, action cards, and strategic obstacles, participants were invited to propose solutions, discuss in groups, and score ideas in an interactive format that stimulated critical thinking and collaboration. The feedback was largely positive, with participants emphasising the value of the methodology in promoting reflection and constructive debate on current public sector challenges.

This session in Tarragona was a significant step in the practical application of the project, reinforcing the importance of participatory methodologies in developing new competencies in the public sector. Therefore, INNlocal is moving closer to its central purpose: to boost a sustainable, inclusive, and citizen-centred innovation culture within local public administrations.
