A Week in Motion: Advancing Local Challenges with INNlocal in Miranda do Douro

Learning by engaging with place, people, and real public challenges.

INNlocal students are currently working on the ground in the city of Miranda do Douro, advancing the local challenges they have been developing within the project’s Challenge-Based learning framework. Following earlier moments of exploration and problem framing, this phase places students in direct contact with the territory, allowing them to engage more deeply with local contexts and governance dynamics.

Through meetings, fieldwork, and collaborative sessions, student teams closely interact with local partners to explore needs, test ideas, and refine emerging proposals. This continuous exchange supports a co-creation process in which local knowledge and lived experience play a central role, ensuring that the challenges evolve in response to concrete realities rather than abstract assumptions.

Rather than marking a conclusion, this stage represents a turning point in the INNlocal journey. The insights gained and relationships strengthened in Miranda do Douro are shaping the next steps of the challenges, reinforcing a learning process that is iterative, collaborative, and closely connected to local public innovation.
