INNlocal launches Challenge-Based Learning in Bragança

International students joined an active learning session exploring innovation in local governance. Last Wednesday, the INNlocal – Innovation in and through Local Governments project held a session in Bragança dedicated to the Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) methodology, bringing together students of various nationalities in an active and collaborative learning experience.

The initiative was part of the project’s pilot activities and aimed to explore new pedagogical approaches that bring Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) closer to innovation practices in the local public sector. This activity was also used for INNLocal Dissemination, as students from 2 different HEIs were involved, and professors/facilitators from 4 different HEIs, 2 from Portugal and 2 from Brazil. The session stood out for its dynamic and intercultural environment, and the participants highlighted the value of the format as a tool for developing cross-cutting skills, such as critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity applied to Public Administration.

With this initiative, INNlocal reinforces its commitment to bringing higher education closer to the reality of the public sector, stimulating the creation of a culture of sustainable, inclusive, and citizen-centred innovation. The project thus continues to make steady progress towards its goal of promoting active and collaborative learning that empowers new generations to face the challenges of local European communities.
